The Andean priests offered devotion and performed ceremonies consecrated to the heavenly bodies and powerful divinities, like the Sun, the Moon, the Stars, the Lightning, the Rainbow. They also revered certain animals considered especially sacred, like Condor, Hummingbird, Puma, Snake, Llama, Toad, etc.
These mystic sites are places of transformation and purification that elevated the energy of the Inca people in order to deepen their reverence and connection with their divinities. These sacred sites hold transformative energy and are considered steps along “The Oracle Route,” a journey through Mystic Cusco.

The Inca and pre-Inca people recognized these wakas in many different places in nature. They regularly honored and made pilgrimages to these wakas, some of which remain wild and untouched, and some of which were chosen locations for their extraordinary temples.

chiefs, kings, priests, priestesses and common people alike came to many different sacred places around the Andes - from mountain tops to caves, from waterfalls to lakes, from hills filled with crystals to tops of canyons with rushing rivers below. Many of these places contain such powerful sacred energy, that the Inca and pre-Inca peoples built magnificent temples upon them.
These pilgrims came to honor these places as sources of ancestral wisdom. They sought guidance and direction about important decisions for their personal lives, for the well-being of the community, for the growth of society, and for the political strategies of an empire.
